Virgil Normal

Inspired by the vernacular designs of local drag strips and round tracks of our youths, we set out to explore and honor the hand-painted medium of race car doors. Pulled from a scrap pile in Arizona, we brought the doors back to LA and began researching their history. Finding gems of information behind each of their meanings, the stories for each began to build themselves. The piles of rusty and dented doors were revived to their potential glory, never realized.

The opening show was held at Virgil Normal, with a subsequent showing at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. They were also featured in Issue 29 of Smith Journal, an Australian-based publication.
